Following in the footsteps of the great Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Gunji Murali Krishna is a distinguished personality from Nellore district. Son of farmers Sri G Narasaiah and Srmathi G Ramanamma, he embraced his rural roots in PallaPolu, Buchireddypalem zone, and excelled academically.
Murali Krishna’s educational journey is a testament to his dedication and pursuit of excellence. He began his academic career at Padmavati School, continued through S.A.M. School, and furthered his education at VR College in Nellore. He did his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Warangal (formerly REC Warangal). His academic path reached a significant milestone at NIT Warangal, where he earned a University Gold Medal in Civil Engineering, presented to him by the then Prime Minister – Dr Manmohan Singh.
Professional Achievements
Murali started his career with a campus recruitment in the central government organization – Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) – Ranchi. At HEC, he was part of the team that established the Continuous Casting Plant that can produce steel 24/7 with German Technology. This was a first of its kind execution in India at Rourkela Steel Plant.
He moved on to Konkan Railways and served as the Principal Engineer for the rapid construction of the Ratnagiri Tunnel. He got an opportunity to work with India’s metro man Mr E Sreedharan. After the completion of the Ratnagiri tunnel work, he received the Best Engineer award from E Sreedharan.
As part of Gammon India, he was part of many mega infrastructure projects that include the famous Almatti Dam in Karnataka.
Later he was part of Consulting Engineering Services and part of many projects. Some of the notable projects include:
- Part of the team that did the feasibility study of the country's longest sea bridge - Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) . This is also the 12th longest bridge in the world and connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai with a 6 lane expressway.
- He is also instrumental in building the Navi Mumbai Railway Station.
- He received the Young Best Engineer award from Builders Association of Mumbai for the work done at the Navi Mumbai Railway Station.
Success in IT Industry and International Expertise
- Venturing into the IT industry, excelling as a consultant for Citibank in London, HP USA, and receiving the Best Team Manager award from Azim Premji at Wipro.
- Leading teams in prestigious firms like the Swiss bank and multinational corporations around the globe.
- He worked with UBS Singapore and later at Bank Of America Chennai.
